PONY EFFECT That Girl : The review !

ponyeffect-thatgirl3

You seemed to enjoy a lot my first blogpost on the Pony Effect That Girl line last time, it makes me so glad ! So I edited it since its official release detailing the various products of the collection… Collection I just received from the brand itself ! I am so proud right now.

To avoid a third edit on this other Pony Effect blogpost, I have decided to inaugurate a real review from scratch ! I tried to make you a slightly different video that I use to film : No front camera, no first impressions, no voiceover … Just a kind of teaser to tempt you to buy it all !  Tell me what you think about it in the commentbox, I count on your sincerity. ♡

My big favs in this Pony Effect That Girl line are the Outfit Lipsticks! As I imagined, they are creamy and pigmented … They are just perfect. The colors have been carefully chosen to perfectly highlight (almost) every skin tones, and I am in LOVE with the pretty nude Noble Brunch, the plum Vibrant Club or the cherry on the cake, the cold and timeless Red that embodies Expensive Dinner.

Get it for about $16 each on the official store.

My second favs (ok I must admit, I like absolutely everything …) are these Illusion Nail Lacquers: In all my nailpolishaddict life, I have rarely seen such opaque polishes in a single layer. I always apply two coats because I’m used to, but the first one is completely opaque, this is awesome! As for the lippies, I believe that the colors are divinely chosen since they are for everyone through a deep blue, a sparkling emerald green or pepsy fuchsia, without forgotting the flakies top coat which will highlight any color. The bottles are stunning, that come with rather thick brushes (I love thick brushes.)

In short : Long lasting, ultra pigmented, easy to apply polishes and- oh yes, their packaging, can we talk about it ?
Get it for $12 on the official store.

It is now time to talk about the palette that drew a lot of attention since its release : the Fever Shadow Palette ! It hadn’t gather only great reviews since many reproached its poor pigmentation … And I think they weren’t that wrong :  In my first post, I noted that I probably wouldn’t have fallen for this palette… And even if I already changed my mind on “very Korean shades” like Ready To Party, Beautiful Liar and Drunk Dial as they are truly hypnotic and easily wearable (but please, let’s not talk about Bad Or Good.), the pigmentation is far from being great. In the video, you can see the “natural” swatches against swatches with a “magic water” (a simple wet brush could do the same thing) below :

It still works well, and the shades aren’t dusty at all.
Get it for about $30 on the official store.

The Luminous Contouring Palette is nothing special, but perfectly embodies the motto “simple but effective“. As I mentioned in the first post (that’s why it’s a bit difficult to speak twice on the same subject … #repeat), it is perfect for very fair skin types because the bronzers are very light, unlike our occidental makeup items. These are cold and brownish tones, nothing to do with some orange and shiny bronzers around here… Everything here is just about chic and simplicity.
Get it on the official store for about $30.

As an extra, I was so surprised to receive a Pony Effect clutch bag with the brand’s holographic storm. First reaction : “kjefhsjhsbfcsjhbfsjh ;__;” I NEED to take it with me everywhere !

ponyeffect-thatgirl6

In addition to this superb clutcb ag, there was a Pony Effect brush kit… Like, THE KIT Pony herself is using in the teaser (yes Margaux, this is normal.). The color is very unusual, but they are so soft: I love  the face brush, and the blending one. The others have short hair and I was afraid that they would make the shadows very powdery but it was not even the case. In short, I love them but I won’t talk about it too much because they are not on sale then it is a bit of taunting. :c

ponyeffect-thatgirl2

This line is a real jewel : The quality, the pigmentation, the choice of the shades, their packagings… I loved everything.
In a nutshell, i am in LOVE with Pony Effect, thank you for this first (and hopefully not the last) line !

PONY EFFECT : The most expected K-beauty brand !

>> REVIEW, SWATCH & VIDEO OF THE PRODUCTS ON THE NEXT POST >>

If you like Korean cosmetics or you often chill on YouTube/Instagram, you may be aware that former Ulzzang (web top model) and Korean makeup artist PONY is under the spotlight for some time now: She is the face of Etude House, CL‘s personal MUA and her entire community could also enjoy her partnership with the MEMEBOX shop last year through eyeshadows palettes, nail polishes and lipsticks.

K-beauty junkies will not be outdone in this end of year as PONY just announced the launch of its own brand makeup brand : PONY EFFECT !

My own cosmetic brand ‘PONY EFFECT’. Coming soon @ponyeffectofficial

Une photo publiée par PONY (@ponysmakeup) le

The launch is coming very soon as it’s announced for November 9 … A few days left to discover the makeup line of our pretty HyeMin that will be available on the official websiteMEMEBOX and Lotte Pop Stores. Yes sir !

Personally, I am in a monstrous hurry: Pony is like my intergalactic crush. MEMEBOX stopped shipping internationally so I haven’t been able to get her eyeshadows palettes in time, but I’ll catch up with her own line that seems to be pure bomb: Textured nail polishes, MAC-like limited editions lipsticks and eyeshadows jewel to reproduce all her fabulous looks … I’m freaking ready.

I hope that one of them will be ship internationally, that stocks are ready to welcome the hordes of fans or that one of our lovely retailers (hello W2Beauty ♡) will be available to get the collection on time. Fingers crossed for reasonable prices too!

EDIT : We’re back today on November 9 to look at this “That Girl” collection which was released just a few hours ago !

pony-effect1

Let’s begin with the “Outfit Lipsticks” : Noble Brunch is a pretty pink-nude, Expensive Dinner a “sexy red” and Vibrant Club a beautiful purple-burgundy. The textures look extremely creamy and smooth, with a good pigmentation. I’m in LOVE !
Get it for about $16 each on the official store.

pony-effect5

Let’s now talk about my favs I had spotted in the teaser photo, the Illusion Nail Lacquers! These 4 shades are sumptuous, they hypnotize me. Luckily, they come as a kit so no need to choose ! These are 10ml bottles, which means pretty small. But for $12, I don’t even complain.
Get it for $12 on the official store.

pony-effect3

The eyeshadows palette goes by the beautiful name of Fever Shadow Palette: It includes three matte shadows (nude In City, taupe All Night and red Bad Or Good) and 6 iridescent / glittery shadows (soft gold Overdose, pepsy gold All That Glam, copper Beautiful Liar, purple Ready To Party, and khaki Drunk Dial).
This Fever Shadow palette is a like a jewel to look at, but I won’t fall for it I just bought 4 palettes (thank you Too Faced TT) and I really don’t need more. However, I find it very original and different from what we can see here because of the warm colors like orange copper, red and purple which are specific to Korean makeups to me. (:
Get it for about $30 on the official store.

pony-effect4

For the same price, you can purchase the Luminous Contouring Palette: A palette that will sculpt the clearest complexions, to the delight of all those who didn’t find their happiness in darker Western shades ! I am already stuffed with my Kat Von D, Sleek, Kiko, BYS… Well, I have too much contour palettes so I will pass, but it seems to be a very good product with a packaging, once again, very brilliant.
Get it on the official store for about $30.

pony-effect2

And if you really don’t know what to pick, pick everything! The set includes 1 lipstick of your choice, the 4 nail polishes kit and eyeshadows & contour palettes and it will be yours for about $69 ! You can save something like +15$, not bad right?
Get it for about $69 on the official store.

A $16 lippie and $30 palette aren’t disorientating us and because I believe that Western brands have similar price, as these chic and glam packagings. Pony hits hard by lauching her very first collection that will delight the youngs and the less youngs, bringing together “cute” fans as well as MAC fans!

Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish BB : Worth a try ?

klairs10

I’m back with a new product to introduce to you, even if the brand might already be familiar to you through my last blogpost about the Rich Moist Soothing line.
Today, I’m going to write about a very promising BB cream, which is already quite popular among beauty blogs since it seems to be amazing.

klairs11

This BB cream promises to :

  • Adapt to the complexion: 3/5

If there is one thing that completely frustrates me in this cool product is its UNIQUE shade. Why Klairs, WHY ? The pigmentation is still very present, but I believe that their “smart color system” was a risky bet : It is slightly too clear to me. Nothing dramatic, but I have to be objective and that point is not really respected in my opinion, imagining that it won’t fit the lightest and darkest complexions.

  • To adapt to all skin types (dry to oily, through sensitive and acne-prone): 4/5

I only have one skin so it seems a bit tricky to answer for them all, but having read my girls with very dry skin who have enjoyed this, my combination skin liked it too ! Note that this is a non-comedogenic product (which does NOT cause nor stimulate acne) which is absolutely not negligible for me.
Concerning its promise of controlling sebum… it’s not very disappointing but not great though: My T-zone is shiny by the end of the day, but once again it’s not dramatic compared to other general products. It has a dewy finish, so I think it’s still doing its job well that can not be compared with mattifying products.

  • To brighten the complexion: 5/5

We really can’t say it doesn’t: No grayish neutral sub-tone out there, this BB is very brightening. A picture is worth 1000 words.

klairs12

I enjoyed this BB, but I still am a bit disappointed because I would have liked a small variation of shades for my girls (since it fits me pretty well), and a cushion version, oh yes !! (I will email them, seriously. haha)
The fact that it is non-comedogenic makes me want to advise it to all acne-prone skins. It won’t to cure acne, but you can doll yourself up with this product : This is already a good point, and a very good reason to stop foundations!
Note that it also has anti-wrinkle agents (yes, it doesn’t hurt anyone, even teens. haha) And a good sun protection (SPF40 PA ++).

[SU_SPOILER TITLE=”Ingredients List”]WATER, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, BETAINE, CETYL ETHYLHEXANOATE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, NIACINAMIDE, POLYSORBATE 60, DIMETHICONE, CETYL PEG/PPG-10/1 DIMETHICONE, ZINC OXIDE, YELLOW OXIDE OF IRON, ISOAMYL P-METHOXYCINNAMATE, DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYL BENZOATE, BENTONITE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, SILICA, RED OXIDE OF IRON, BIS-ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL TRIAZINE, STEARIC ACID, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, CHLORPHENESIN, TALC, BLACK OXIDE OF IRON, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, FRAGRANCE, CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT, SODIUM HYALURONATE, GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA (LICORICE) ROOT EXTRACT, PORTULACA OLERACEA EXTRACT, PIPER METHYSTICUM LEAF/ROOT/STEM EXTRACT, ALLANTOIN, ADENOSINE, SODIUM ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE, LINUM USITATISSIMUM (LINSEED) SEED EXTRACT, HIBISCUS ESCULENTUS FRUIT EXTRACT, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, ARCTIUM LAPPA ROOT EXTRACT, HIBISCUS MUTABILIS FLOWER EXTRACT, CORCHORUS OLITORIUS LEAF EXTRACT, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE[/SU_SPOILER]

Still, I find it a bit pricy : I think the brand should review it downwards. This is still a good investment in my opinion, it is far below western luxury complexion products, which however has a quite good ingredients list.

This BB cream really suits all skin types. Ultimately, it is a successful bet for Klairs!
