Even if I think about a million things during my day, I always forget when my makeup remover comes to an end… ugh.
This little cleanser stick (I don’t really like to say cleanser because it leads to confusion), let’s say this makeup removal stick came just when I needed it in my September Joah Box – that I forgot about until then. So, I gave it a chance… I didn’t have a choice tho. Let’s focus haha.
Nooni
I tend to know more and more about the Korean cosmetics market everyday, so there aren’t many brands that I truly NEVER heard of or tested. Nooni was part of those that I saw growing, without having the chance to try any product. So here we are!
I think Nooni appeared on social medias in 2016, and since then I saw it conquer the American market, by being sold at MEMEBOX, Ulta ou encore Urban Outfitters. Just that!
That being said, Nooni’s success isn’t surprising at all. It’s actually “Designed in California, Made in Korea”. This strategy seems to work since we discover a minimalist features brand as we like them.
Nooni Snowflake Stick Cleanser
You may be thinking: “Minimalist, are you out of your mind?” Not really because when I was doing my researches for this article, I found out that the packaging has been redone – here is a little glimpse:
Joah Box confirmed that it’s a simple rebranding and that the composition is still the same. I think you can actually find both of them on eBay, Amazon etc.
Speaking of composition, here it is:
Yes it’s quite long and very conventional: You really need to check if your skin doesn’t react to jojoba oil (moisturizing, nourishing) or to olive oil (antioxidant, soften) which can cause ‘breakouts’, but the only thing to regret in this composition are the preservatives (Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol) and PEGs…
Apart from that, nothing to report! There is a lot of natural products such as:
- Lotus flower: Purifying, softening, moisturizing
- Cocoa seed butter: antioxidant, filled with vitamins A, B, C, E
- Shea butter: nourishing, moisturizing, soothing
- Ginseng: tone up, anti-ageing, destressing
- Salicylate acide : THE moisturizer!
- Hydrogen peroxide from Jeju island (makes it fancier)
I was surprised to see there is perfume in the composition because obviously this isn’t good for the skin, but this is forgivable if the product smells really good right? But hear me well: I really, really don’t like the smell of this stick.
It smells chemical, or… plastic, I don’t know, but the kind of smell you don’t want on your face! They point out peach extracts, so it would have been nice if the product smell like it… (And yes, I don’t care about the composition as long as I don’t’ have spots on my face, but I rather remain objective for those who care ;p)
What about the efficiency of the product now? I kind of spoiled it in the title, but it is seriously amazing:
I applied all my strongest makeup such as waterproof brow pencil, Tarte’s Lip Paint (which is soooo matte), the famous Shape Tape concealer and the Curl Fix mascara from Etude House, known for giving a hard time to two-phased makeup removers.
Step 1: Draw circular motions with the stick straight on the makeup. Then massage it with your fingers and you already removed 90% of your makeup! There is only some mascara left, but I told you there isn’t tougher than this one!
Step 2: Put some warm water on your face so the oily texture becomes a light emulsion while finishing the job: There is NO-THING left!
What combination to oily skins will enjoy is the moisturizing finish, which isn’t greasy at all. Of course, dry skins can use it as well but let’s admit that there is nothing worse than this greasy feeling due to a too rich product.
The skin is left clean and soft, at least clean enough to be really cleanSED this time. :D
Why choose a stick over an oil? Because this is so much more practical and ergonomic if you travel! And for those who’d rather die than go to bed with makeup on… You could actually keep it in your bag. haha
I struggled to find it on my favorite eshops and resellers, but here is some links if you’d like to try the Nooni Snowflake Stick Cleanser, which doesn’t smell so good, but is really cute and efficient! BeautyNetKorea (15,85€) – Amazon (16€ ports compris !) – eBay (22$ ports compris)
