J.ONE Jelly Pack, the ultimate ‘glue primer’

J.ONE Jelly Pack best k-beauty glue primer

If you follow me on social networks (especially Twitter and Instagram), you might have already seen this lil product! I took my time to try it out, and here I am today, to review it for you. Other products from the same brand will also be reviewed quickly… stay tuned.

J.ONE Jelly Pack

J.ONE

J.ONE is a Korean cosmetics brand that is particularly famous overseas, because I must admit that I’ve seen more US reviews about it than anywhere else! haha
It owns its success to the American e-shop Glow Recipe, which has highlighted it by giving it the title of “gamechanger” – nothing less.

The other products of the brand are newer and more discreet since this Jelly Pack is a huge must-have and bestseller… that can also be found at Sephora US through its collab with Glow Recipe! Hard to compete, right.

J.ONE Jelly Pack

This J.ONE Jelly Pack promises a lot of things, which are directly displayed on the bottle and can be read at first glance:

  • Dramatic firming skin
  • Improved elasticity
  • Pore smoothing

As you can understand, it’s supposed to be a multitasking care suitable for all skin types, which acts as a moisturizing mask with anti-aging properties but also as a primer that grips makeup.

The theory is GREAT, and in real life… Well, it’s more or less the same thing!

The small pump that provides the product lets us discover a clear, ultra thick and sticky texture. The term ‘glue primer‘ labeled by the Americans immediately makes sense because it just looks like… liquid glue.

Its fragrance is very unusual but oddly, I like it. It reminds me of bread dough. Or even child glue, which would make more sense haha. Just be warned that the smell is quite strong and weird for a beauty product. ;)

The application is as destabilizing as the smell at first: Its thick and sticky texture doesn’t spread as well as a cream, you must work it a little longer. It becomes quite watery under the fingertips but still remains sticky.
If you wait for it not to stick anymore like a classic cream, you can wait a loooong time! haha

It’s indeed best to wait a few minutes before applying makeup, when your sticky skin bounces between your fingers but there is no product transfer.
Now, you can apply your makeup normally: Concealer, foundation, BB cream, cushion … It’s up to you, just know that nothing will move!

I noticed an immediate change on my combination to oily skin: At the end of the day, my T-zone was much less greasy than usual and areas on which makeup struggles to stay such as the wings of my nose, had still makeup on it!

As you may know (or not), my pores are quite dilated on my nose and the inner corner of my cheeks. I expected a lot from the ‘pore smoothing‘ effect and I’m not disappointed: It’s not a texture that FILL pores like the Porefessional primer from Benefit, but rather a visible reduction of pores thanks to the firming effect of the J.ONE Jelly Pack.
On the other hand, this primer is just like makeup so this is only temporary and won’t reduce the appearance of your pores in the long term. Don’t forget to treat this aspect of your skin with specific skincare! (If you have a good reference, please share it because I’m still looking...)

And last but not least, I didn’t keep the best for the end because we’ll know talk about the moistuziring point… which I didn’t necessarily noticed. Actually, I didn’t even expected it. A ‘glue primer’ with such properties can not, in my opinion, be a makeup primer AND a proper skincare.

However, I can definitely confirm that it doesn’t dry the skin out, and even preserves skin moisture by forming a kind of film on the face. Here is the only ‘skincare’ side I can give, but I really don’t advise you to replace your moisturizing cream or gel for this J.ONE Jelly Pack, as cool as it is.
Finally, we can all wonder “does the skin breathe?” Answer: A little less than if you don’t apply it, but it seems non-comedogenic and didn’t cause me any breakouts. It just does a wonderful job making my makeup stay all day, and I love it for that.

If so far, makeup primers weren’t important for you, this Korean J.ONE Jelly Pack should definitely be a gamechanger!

Now it’s time for you just truly hate me because… it’s soldout everywhere. I purchased it on sale on TesterKorea for like €17 if I remember well, but it was also available at €19.90 on Jolse and Cosmetic-Love, against $42 on Glow Recipe and Sephora US. :s

Skin & Lab Dr. Tightening Pore Glacial Clay: The facial mask you’ve been waiting for!

SKIN & LAB Dr. Pore Tightening Glacial Clay Facial Mask

I got a little crazy on Jolse the other day, and bought some brands that I didn’t know at all. As much as I like to buy the latest products of my fav brands, it’s always a pleasure to go blindly when we just love k-beauty for what it is!

So among other things, I fell for a facial mask from a brand that I saw on social networks from time to time: SKIN & LAB!

SKIN&LAB

You may have guessed it by now, SKIN & LAB is a Korean brand. It was founded in 2012 and remained quite discreet until now. Still, the brand offers quality products with very clean design and want to be a true dermatological solution rather than simple skincare.

The flagship products of this brand are probably the Vitamin Creams with (vitamin) number on the tube, which target a particular need each: Firmness, soothing, brightening, moisture, acne… I’m sure there is one for you!
However, I was rather looking for a mask to apply few days a week so I went for the SKIN & LAB Dr. Tightening Glacial Pore Clay Facial Mask!

SKIN&LAB Dr. Tightening Pore Glacial Clay Facial Mask

Long names, again and again… Let’s not change a winning team, ok? ;)
The Dr. Tightening Pore’s facial masks line includes a second product -the ‘Pink Clay Facial Mask’- and I’ve hesitated A LOT between these two… to finally turn to the one which has better solution for my skin needs:

Purifies, soothes and tightens pores thanks to Canadian colloidal clay and oatmeal.

The two star ingredients deeply clean pores, eliminate dead skins and even moisturize while controlling sebum, preventing the appearance of blackheads & other imperfections and leaving the skin fresh and soothed. What else?!

Voir la composition
Water, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Kaolin, Bentonite, Canadian Colloidal Clay, Stearic Acid, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Triethanolamine, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, Butylene Glycol, Saccharide Isomerate, Allantoin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Propylparaben, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288).

In addition to Canadian colloidal clay and oatmeal, which are very well positioned in the composition, we can also find:

  • Kaolin: White clay rich in silica, decongestant and helps get a healthy skin. Also helps controling sebum and tightening pores
  • Tea tree oil: Anti-acne ally #1!
  • Portulaca Oleracea extract: Great antioxidant that retains moisture and soothes skin
  • Allantoin: Reduces sensitivity and controls dead cells

Beside that, it’s still a so-called “conventional” composition that contains plenty of conservatives so I can understand if it’s not your jam. But if you don’t mind more than that: Let me continue to introduce you this nugget.

I fell for these simple promises. The 100g jar and its cardboard packaging are both white and baby blue, so as to recall the term “glacial” in its name and I think they did it right. It’s very clean, but pretty cute in its own way!
As surprising as it can be, only a slice of the packaging is written in Korean while everything else is in English. I wouldn’t be surprised if Korean people themselves didn’t know this brand, which seems to have been created for the western market. Tell me about it if you’re Korean! haha

By unscrewing the beautiful jar and lifting the operculum, you can discover a quite singular texture: Not so singular because it looks like thick green clay, but dotted with small flakes and smells like peppermint.

Just know that classic clay usually dry skin a lot, but it’s not the case with this mask that I use 2 to 3 times a week: The clay glides easily despite the small chips, and it’s nice to massage on the skin: It helps to gently exfoliate and stimulate the skin.
It also dries very quickly, you don’t need for a lot of product so the jar will last for a while. Now let me recommend you something that I would recommend for all clay masks: Do not let it dry COMPLETELY, and dampen it regularly with a mist! The results will be no less good, and sensitive skin won’t feel that Life itself is leaving their own epidermis haha.

The oiliest skins don’t especially HAVE to dampen it, I forget it from time to time and my skin hasn’t tugged yet. It’s a as soft as efficient clay mask:

From the very first use, the skin is visibly brighter and the refreshing/soothing effect of the green clay seems to calm redness. My skin is unified, I feel it purified and smooth without tugging. What a delight.
After a few weeks of use, I also find that my pores are doing better as well: They are visibly tightened and the skin texture in general is refined.

The only ‘flaw’ of this product in my opinion when you rince it: Oatmeal hangs a lot on the skin and it’s almost impossible to remove it with bare hands without being harsh on the skin. So take a wet glove or towel and it’s no longer a flaw because it goes off very well!

I still have some imperfections from time to time so it’s not a miracle product for acne-prone skins, but the promises are kept and that’s all I ask! However, just know that you can also use it on body and particularly on acne/troubled areas, where the pores are the most dilated. I don’t particularly need it but I think it could do wonders on people who have back or chest in summer …

If this SKIN & LAB Dr. Tightening Glacial Pore Clay Facial Mask hypes you, get it at JOLSE for just … €12 at the moment! Its original price being 16 €, the discount isn’t the DEAL of the year but I wanted to show you that it remains affordable in all circumstances.

Do you use clay in your skincare routine? What do you think of this k-beauty SKIN & LAB Dr. Tightening Glacial Pore Clay Facial Mask?

V10Plus Water Based Peeling: Japanese exfoliation

Peeling japonais enzymatique à base d'eau V10Plus Water Based Peeling

I realize that I’m overwhelmed by all the products I’ve accumulated these last years, months and days that I became more and more selective in my collabs. However when Mon Vanity Ideal offered me to try this product, I accepted for several reasons that I’m going to detail throughout this post: The technique, the packaging, and where it’s from!

V10Plus

V10Plus is a brand from… Japan! I don’t talk about Japanese cosmetics a lot on the blog, so I found that it was the perfect occasion to get deeper into J-Beauty.
Created by Mrs. Akiko Yokota, the flagship products of the brand are small colored serums that try to cover the maximum needs, to build the perfect personal, unique skincare routine.

I haven’t been able to find the exact time of creation or release, only that an improvement of these serums took place in 2007.

I was looking for a date because these serums look A LOT like the ones from Korean brand It’s Skin and I wanted to know who copied the other…

Naughty! Still, it’s okay for us customers as long as we have choices , right? ;)

V10Plus Water Based Peeling

Let’s not go too far from the subject of the day, since it’s a review of the brand’s water-based peeling. It visually has nothing to do with small multicolored serums: Its mint with small drawings of wheat and seaweed tube reveals a golden logo and pink directions. It is very cute and full, very Japanese… I love it!

At first glance, we can read that it is a water-based exfoliating mask with rice bran and seaweed extracts. (So it’s not wheat drawn on the tube hahaha)
Discover the differences between chemical exfoliation (peeling) and mechanical exfoliation (scrub) in this article ~

Did you do your homework? For those who didn’t, a peeling will help get rid of small dead skin thanks to acids that will smoothly take off the dead cells.
The terms “chemical” and “acid” shouldn’t scare you at all by the way, and you should also remember that this peel is water-based, that means very soft. ;)

At second glance this time, we learn that this V10Plus Water Based Peeling is formulated without parabens, chemical fragrances, artificial colors and without mineral oil.

See the ingredients list
Aqua, Glycerin, Acrylates / C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Dicocodimonium Chloride, Steartrimonium Bromide, Isopropyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Brain Extract, Algae Extract, Butylene Glycol [/ su_spoiler ]

A lot of gibberish, not a lot of ingredients we're used to see since this peeling uses an uncommon process.

How to use? Nothing more simple: On cleansed and dry skin, quickly apply a small amount of product on the entire face and let it sit for 5 seconds. Yes. 5 SECONDS. As for me, I rather wait 10 or 15 seconds and my skin broke out or whatsoever. Do as you please, under reasonable circonstances.
However, I advise you to avoid the eye area because on one hand, this area is very thin and doesn't necessarily need to be exfoliated, and on the other hand even if the product isn't formulated with any artificial fragrance, it smells like alcohol. The fragrance is quite strong, but it fades quickly. Just be warned!

The product is clear and liquefies immediately on the skin for a very easy application. Once the few seconds passed, gently massage your face... to see small fluff of dead skin mixed in the peeling! Glam.

From the very first use, I can notice its effectiveness: If the fluff are grayish or colored like your foundation, you can be sure that you just did GOOD to your skin haha.

The fact that it is water-based makes the skin intensely soft and it doesn't tug (although obviously, you shouldn't stop your skincare routine here and continue with moisturizing products). Moreover, it leaves the skin significantly softer to the touch, smoother and visibly more radiant. And this from the first use, I said it!

Let say it's a huge YES for this Japanese V10Plus Water Based Peeling, which fulfills all its promises in addition to being cute, practical and fun to use.

Now you'll basically HATE me because you can purchase it for... €58. A hell of a lot, I admit it.

Have you ever tried water-based peels or chemical peels? What do you think of this one? I'm curious !

Re:cipe Cleansing Oil Petal: The world’s best make up remover is Korean!

K-beauty Re:cipe Cleansing Oil Rose Petal

I’m still wondering how can I talk to you about this produit only in May 2018 while it’s been my ultimate must have since 2016 … I’m sooooo ashamed!

Meanwhile, I obviously wanted to try other products, textures, brands… Some were very convincing and I won’t forget to talk to you about them this time, but I always come back to this Re:cipe Cleansing Oil Rose Petal which is for me, and sooooo far, the best on earth. At least. And if up to this point you’re not fond of cleansing oils and removing your makeup with your own fingertips, it’s now my mission to make you change your mind before the end of this post. ;)

Re:cipe

Re:cipe is a quite underrated Korean cosmestics brand, which doesn’t have many products but for the few that exist… I really want to have ALL ahah. Re:cipe really wants to do things through great quality, original textures and ingredients. To sum things up, I couldn’t NOT not like this brand. Strangely, it’s quite difficult to purchase it so I always go to TesterKorea to fill my stock up. If you have other links, don’t hesitate to share them on the comments! ♡

Re:cipe Cleansing Oil Rose Petal

Can I start this review with anything but the oil itself? You could have imagine it thanks to the title, and it’s right : The bottle has real rose petals that stroll through the oil and make it almost precious. It is wasn’t so efficient, I would almost have keep it to decorate my room.

It’s actually Damas roses petals, whose essential oil is known for its healing, firming, regenerative, and revitalising properties. And when you see its position in the ingredients list, you’ll be rather happy to spread it all over your face

See the ingredients list
Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Juice, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Fragrance

Have you ever seen a short list like it ? Excluding emolliants, fragrances and hydrating agents, here’re the different oils you can find in the Re:cipe Cleansing Oil Rose Petal

  • Damas Rose Oil: like I said above healing, firming, regenerative and revitalising
  • Jojoba Oil: Regulating, smoothing and protecting against deshydratation
  • Olive Oil: Protecting, nourishing and fighting against age’s signs.
  • Macadamia Oil: Protecting, nourishing, restructuring and softening.

Bonus: NO paraben, mineral oil, alcohol, benzophenone, artificial colorants and talcum powder.

And… that’s all folks! Here is the best cleansing oils secret. The only thing which could be better than is would be to snap fingers and get clear face, seriously !

Besides, I think it’s always useful to remind that oils (cleansing or not) are NOT BAD for oily skins, far from it. In 2018, I hope we’ll be able to stop the « no oil for oily skins with sebum» nonsense because it’s absolutely wrong! This Re:cipe oil is good for all skinstypes sooo… go go go !

Another incredible thing we can see on the packaging, is that it’s written in Korean, English… and French! It’s made in Korea but the RD Lab seems to be implanted in France. Surprising, isn’t it? Impossible to misunderstand the directions even if there’s nothing more simple : 1 or 2 pumps in the palm of the hand, then gently massage the face to remove absolutely ALL the make up (even the most waterproof one) and it leaves your face clear without any oily or greasy finish, ladies and gentlemen !

I say « no oily finish » because it’s the best point of this oil. A lot of cleansing oils and balms are doing great at removing the makeup, but they often leave an almost sticky finish and the first thing I want to do is to cleanse it right away. As much as I love creams with a sticky finish because it makes my skin firm and plump, I really don’t want my makeup remover to try to do so. It will obviously be done as we neeeever end the skincare routine at the makeup removing step (right ? right ??), but this Re:cipe Cleansing Oil Rose Petal is also cool to use in the morning to cleanse all the impurities, sweating, etc of last night.

Oil cleansing becomes an actual reflex! Its fragrance is pleasent, it emulsifies a bit with water and the skin is completely cleansed without being dry or tugged.

Removing your make up with your fingers is really enjoyable, and it’s ecofriendly because you don’t use any cotton pad. That way you can feel your bare skin under your fingers and understand it, see how it evolves, etc. Don’t underestimate oil cleansing, it’s REALLY the best. ;)

And concerning this particular oil: I told you, it’s perfect. Beautiful, clean, efficient, perfect !

Go purchase the Re:cipe Cleansing Oil Rose Petal on TesterKorea for €14,85/200 ml. Have you already tried it ? If it’s the case, come meet the gang in the comment section! I’m looking forward meeting you there. ♡

WASO Shiseido skincare line: A+!

Shiseido WASO

Who doesn’t know Shiseido? Founded in 1867 by Arinobu Fukuhara in the ritzy area of Ginza in Tokyo, it’s the oldest cosmectics’ company in the world. From its name “do” (house of) and “shi sei” (where everything is born) comes out luxurious, quality and trendy products.

WASO Shiseido

But today, I’m not here to strictly speak about Shiseido but rather WASO Shiseido, their new range for young skins… but not only!

Beauty is born from nature.

(Little trailer of the line to set the mood :)

What striked me first when I received this range (I was so excited as you can imagine) is its simplicity. The packagings are surprisingly minimalist and chic.

And for good reasons, the whole line was made without unnecessary ingredients: no paraben, no mineral oil and no micro beads. Its name itself come from 和 « wa » meaning softness, harmony and 想 « so»  meaning inspiration.

Simplicity is not luxury, it’s an elementary value.

Now we are all in total immersion in WASO Shiseido universe, it’s time for me to deeply introduce the products.

WASO Shiseido Quick Gentle Cleanser

See the ingredients list
Water(aqua/eau), sodium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, peg-8 diisostearate, glycerin, sodium chloride, phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate, isostearic acid, fragrance (parfum), peg-10 dimethicone, caramel, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, disodium edta, citric acid, limonene, betaine, honey(mel/miel), butylene glycol, tocopherol, royal jelly extract, bht

In addition to a great (and essential) moisturizing effect, cleansing is one of my favourite step in my skincare routine. After removing my makeup, I never feel myself deeply clean without a good cleansing and I tremble when I know that some of us, somewhere on earth, stop right after a simply wipe and a shot of water on their face, brr.

While Aleppo soap seems to have healed my acne, I keep using it sometimes to maintain a good skin texture but let’s be honest: It’s a big block that doesn’t even smell good. So it’s important for me to interchange with a nice product to keep it enjoyable…. And this WASO Quick Gentle Cleanser does its job perfectly!

Its little rounded bottle contains 150mL and will last a moment. (I plead guilty: I already started using it when I finally got motivated for the photoshoot :p) Almost every products of this WASO line come with a flat cap like this one (lotion and scrub), they are made to be placed head-down in order to collect easily the substance. Obviously, nothing gets past them!

It’s a sticky liquid gel and a simple, little knob is enough to clean all the face. It will not necessarily bubble (bit it might with a net or a sponge) but you feel that it’s cleansing efficiently!

Its color and texture remind immediately its star ingredient: honey! Used for centuries thanks to its antibacterial properties, it’s a great partner in cosmetics. It’s prized by dry skins thanks to its rich texture, and for damaged skins to smooth and lighten scars and spots.
In this cleanser, honey will be suitable for all skintypes, in a nameless smooth cleansing…

I always expect ONE thing from my cleansers: For my face not to tug and be dry after I rinse it. Fortunately, it’s totally the case with this fresh cleansing gel: It’ as smooth and moisturizing as sweet and efficient. Be ready, the rejoicing is just starting!

Its fragrance is totally addictive! It smells something between ‘clean’ and Korean creams. I L O V E it.

Purchase it for €34,50 at Sephora.

WASO Shiseido Fresh Jelly Lotion

See the ingredients list
WATER(AQUA/EAU), DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, BETAINE, ERYTHRITOL, TREHALOSE, PEG/PPG-14/7 DIMETHYL ETHER, PHENOXYETHANOL, HYDROGENATED DIMER DILINOLEYL PEG-44/POLY(1,2-BUTANEDIOL)-15 DIMETHYL ETHER, PEG-240/HDI COPOLYMER BIS-DECYLTETRADECETH-20 ETHER, CARBOMER, LAURYL BETAINE, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE, POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE, DISODIUM EDTA, LIMONENE, HEXYL CINNAMAL, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL, BENZYL BENZOATE, LINALOOL, LAMIUM ALBUM FLOWER/LEAF/STEM EXTRACT, SODIUM BENZOATE, BHT, TREMELLA FUCIFORMIS POLYSACCHARIDE, TOCOPHEROL

This lotion is absolutely what I love as a toner: sweet and moisturizing, far from theses astringents tonic lotions which are usually loved here in Occident!
It has the exact same size and bottle as the Quick Gentle Cleanser and its name “jelly” comes from its thick texture which contains small air bubbles. Upon contact with skin, it becomes watery and get to be completely absorbed.

The star ingredient of this Fresh Jelly Lotion is some kind of mushroom, the Shiro Kikurage. It’s an eatable mushroom which looks spongy and gelatinous and which is known for its good skin properties, especially to hold moisturizing into the skin.

It leaves the skin lightly sticky, but as it’s just the first step of a skincare routine (to do at day and night) it doesn’t bother me. It actually never bothers me but I’d rather notice it for the ones who feel it differently. I always associate sticky finishes with ‘firmness’, and this moisturizing lotion totally provides it to my skin. I LO-VE IT. (once again)

About the fragrance, it’s the same as the cleanser’s. Yas! You will now have realized that theses first two steps are yet a love at first sight. Sounds promising, right?

Purchase it for €34,50€ at Sephora.

WASO Shiseido Soft Cushy Polisher

See the ingredients list
WATER(AQUA/EAU), MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE, SD ALCOHOL 40-B (ALCOHOL DENAT.), CELLULOSE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, HYDROLYZED CORN STARCH, GLYCERIN, DIMETHICONE, CETYL ETHYLHEXANOATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, CARBOMER, HYDROXYPROPYL METHYLCELLULOSE, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), BETAINE, POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, XANTHAN GUM, LIMONENE, HEXYL CINNAMAL, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL, SODIUM METAPHOSPHATE, DISODIUM EDTA, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, IRON OXIDES (CI 77492)

Don’t let yourself be fooled by the words “soft” or “cushy”: it’s a scrub! I’d rather warn you all because I was confused as well. “Is it a cleanser to use after removing makeup? Uh no, it’s a smooth scrub. Does that mean it’s a chemical scrub without grain? Well no, there is some…”

Stay focused on the idea that it’s a polisher. After all, it is indeed very soft: The milky texture holds some thin grains, but grains never really match with sensitives skins, right?.. What can I say: It’s not my case, my skin isn’t really sensitive so I love it haha.
The tiny grains work deeply and leave the skin really smooth, clear and obviously brighter.

The key ingredient of this Soft Cushy Polisher is… tofu! Surprising, isn’t it? For those who don’t know it, it’s a soft white substance made from mashed soya beans. Regular, it doesn’t have any taste but it goes very well with vegan/Asian courses. Raw, cooked or fry… Wait? We’re here to talk about its properties for the skin, aren’t we? Soya holds lecithin: a substance which help to preserve skin elasticity.
Let’s say that it’s a quite smooth and moisturizing polisher not as abrasive as classic sugar scrubs!

Its fragrance is the same as the lotion, so I can tell you it won’t last long! hehe Its 75mL tube format is as much hygienic as handy thanks to the cap shape which insure a good balance.

Purchase it for €34,50 at Sephora.

WASO Shiseido Quick Matte Moisturizer Oil-Free

See the ingredients list
WATER (AQUA/EAU), DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, BETAINE, ALCOHOL DENAT, GLYCERIN, SILICA, PEG/PPG-14/7 DYMETHYL ETHER, DIPEPTIDE-15, ERYTHRITOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, TREHALOSE, PEG-240/HDI COPOLYMER BIS-DECYLTETRADECETH-20 ETHER, PEG-6, PEG-32, PHENOXYETHANOL, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ALCOHOL, CARBOMER, CAFFEINE, PEG/PPG-17/4 DIMETHYL ETHER, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE, DISODIUM EDTA, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, AMINOPROPYL DIMETHICONE, SODIUM METABISULFITE, PHYTOSTERYL/OCTYLDODECYL LAUROYL GLUTAMATE, SAXIFRAGA SARMENTOSA EXTRACT, LIMONENE, HEXYL CINNAMAL, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL, ERIOBOTRYA JAPONICA LEAF PROTOPLASTS, BENZYL BENZOATE, LINALOOL, PAEONIA ALBIFLORA ROOT EXTRACT, CITRUS JUNOS SEED EXTRACT, ERIOBOTRYA JAPONICA LEAF EXTRACT, BHT, BENZOIC ACID, TOCOPHEROL

Oily skins will want to steer to the line’s GREEN products because theses are oil-free. Quite the opposite, they only will moisturize and control sebum, and that all we ask them to do!

This instant mattifying clear emulsion-like has a light texture which doesn’t stick, it’s perfect to use it at the end of the night skincare routine, and just before a good moisturizing cream. Alone, I think it’s not enough tho. After all, who’s done after an emulsion? ;)

The key ingredient of oily skins’ products of the line, is the loquat from Japan: a bush whose antioxidant properties are valued since the dawn of time in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Its packaging is really interesting: Cylindrical, long and narrow, it’s the only product of the WASO’s line to have a pump. I really like it, it is suitable to complete a layering routine but it is less essential than the others.

Purchase it for €45,50 at Sephora. (outch…)

WASO Shiseido Clear Mega-Hydrating Cream

See the ingredients list
WATER(AQUA/EAU), GLYCERIN, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, XYLITOL, SD ALCOHOL 40-B (ALCOHOL DENAT.), PEG-20, BIS-PEG-18 METHYL ETHER DIMETHYL SILANE, DIPEPTIDE-15, DIMETHICONE, ERYTHRITOL, PEG-150, POLYMETHYLSILSESQUIOXANE, TREHALOSE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, BETAINE, PEG-10 DIMETHICONE, PEG/PPG-19/19 DIMETHICONE, HYDROGENATED POLYISOBUTENE, PHENOXYETHANOL, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, TRISODIUM EDTA, PEG/PPG-17/4 DIMETHYL ETHER, CAFFEINE, ALCOHOL, CETYL ETHYLHEXANOATE, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), SODIUM METABISULFITE, PHYTOSTERYL/OCTYLDODECYL LAUROYL GLUTAMATE, LIMONENE, HEXYL CINNAMAL, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL, PAEONIA ALBIFLORA ROOT EXTRACT, BENZYL BENZOATE, LINALOOL, BHT, LAMIUM ALBUM FLOWER/LEAF/STEM EXTRACT, DAUCUS CAROTA SATIVA (CARROT) ROOT PROTOPLASTS, CITRUS JUNOS SEED EXTRACT, TOCOPHEROL, BENZOIC ACID, BETA-CAROTENE (CI 75130)

For dry to normal skins, it will be the orange color! This product is probably the most surprising of the range, for a lot of reasons.

Its texture is unseen: It looks compact but all in transparency, turns out to be a non sticky gel. Do you follow me? It’s rather thick but not elastic nor sticky — it’s totally addictive!

The color of the pot gives a big clue about the key ingredient: carrot. Its color symbolizes celebration and happiness in the Japanese culture, the carrot is also rich in vitamins and it’s the sworn enemy of dull skins.

You can immediately feel that the cream is richer than the rest of the WASO Shiseido’ s line. So with my combination to oily skin, I use it only few times a week at night, as the way I put a face-mask, but dry skins will love it for a daily use.

Even though it targets dry to normal skins, I’m TOO in love with the texture to put it aside. I have learnt to listen my skin and use it as the way it likes it, so my skin is firmer and plumper than ever. ♡

Purchase it for €45,50 at Sephora. (not ‘outch’ because it’s GREAT anyway)

WATER, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, SD ALCOHOL 40-B, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAETHYLHEXANOATE, PEG-9 POLYDIMETHYLSILOXYETHYL DIMETHICONE, TRIISOSTEARIN, METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, HYDROGENATED POLYDECENE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE, ERYTHRITOL, SILICA, TREHALOSE, PEG-6, PEG-32, CAFFEINE, BETAINE, PEG/PPG-17/4 DIMETHYL ETHER, DIPEPTIDE-15, PHYTOSTERYL/OCTYLDODECYL LAUROYL GLUTAMATE, PAEONIA ALBIFLORA ROOT EXTRACT, LAMIUM ALBUM FLOWER/LEAF/STEM EXTRACT, DAUCUS CAROTA SATIVA (CARROT) ROOT PROTOPLASTS, CITRUS JUNOS SEED EXTRACT, PPG-17, ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE, STEARIC ACID, ISOSTEARIC ACID, TRISODIUM EDTA, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, POLYESTER-1, ALCOHOL, SILICA DIMETHYL SILYLATE, BHT, ALUMINA, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, SODIUM METABISULFITE, TOCOPHEROL, PHENOXYETHANOL, BENZOIC ACID, FRAGRANCE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, IRON OXIDES, MICA, MONENE, LINALOOL, ALANINE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE, SOPHORA ANGUSTIFOLIA ROOT EXTRACT, TOCOPHEROL

I wrote “dry to normal skins” in the title because there is a version for combination to oily skins that I will introduce you just after this one.

I can’t really talk about this one because it doesn’t match my skin type. You can literally feel that there is some oil in the ingredients: It’s waterier, it glides on skin and has a more “shiny” and lighter finish. It’s also a bit less covering than my favourite that I will introduce to you right now.

Purchase it for €45,50 at Sephora.

WASO Shiseido Color-Smart Day Moisturizer Oil-Free SPF30 (Normal to oily skins)

See the ingredients list
WATER, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, SD ALCOHOL 40-B, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAETHYLHEXANOATE, PEG-9 POLYDIMETHYLSILOXYETHYL DIMETHICONE, TRIISOSTEARIN, METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, HYDROGENATED POLYDECENE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE, ERYTHRITOL, SILICA, TREHALOSE, PEG-6, PEG-32, CAFFEINE, BETAINE, PEG/PPG-17/4 DIMETHYL ETHER, DIPEPTIDE-15, PHYTOSTERYL/OCTYLDODECYL LAUROYL GLUTAMATE, PAEONIA ALBIFLORA ROOT EXTRACT, LAMIUM ALBUM FLOWER/LEAF/STEM EXTRACT, DAUCUS CAROTA SATIVA (CARROT) ROOT PROTOPLASTS, CITRUS JUNOS SEED EXTRACT, PPG-17, ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE, STEARIC ACID, ISOSTEARIC ACID, TRISODIUM EDTA, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, POLYESTER-1, ALCOHOL, SILICA DIMETHYL SILYLATE, BHT, ALUMINA, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, SODIUM METABISULFITE, TOCOPHEROL, PHENOXYETHANOL, BENZOIC ACID, FRAGRANCE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, IRON OXIDES, MICA

As you can see in the title, it’s the same product as the previous one but oil-free: a must-have for combination to oily skins! Normal skins will also appreciate its good coverage and sebo-regulating mattifying finish.

Carrot isn’t the key ingredient anymore but the loquat of Japan again, like the Quick Matte Moisturizer Oil-Free.

Coming out of the tube, this light cream looks white with microscopic browns grains. By spreading it on the skin, the cream dyes and gets the color of your own carnation! It claims to be an universal tint but needs to be checked for very light and dark skins. It’s the same process as the dry skins’ cream, and they both have an SPF 30 sun protection. Not bad, huh?
As for me, it goes as perfectly well with my skin tone as you could believe of an optical illusion, but the finish on my face is irrevocable: my red patches are visibly reduced and above all, it’s THE perfect make-up base!

Some pores on the side of my nose are too dilated to be hidden: only specific make-up base can smooth them. So can you imagine my surprise when I realized that this little tinted cream totally BLURRED my skin and its capricious pores?!

Right away tested — right away adopted, I only swear by it since. In the last step of my morning routine, it provides a very last touch of moisturizing and seal it while smoothing my skin and complexion complexion. Hello, is it the perfect product?

This time, the tub doesn’t have a balanced cap and can’t be placed as the cleanser, the lotion or the polisher. Anyway, you can still find the same little notch specific to the WASO line, so you can bring it with you everywhere!

Its fragrance… Yes it’s always the same. It’s the same for the whole line even if I didn’t precise it for all the products and honestly, I’m mad about it!

Purchase it for €45,50 at Sephora.

WASO Shiseido is a line which basically targets young skins because of oily-free and special care products. You can also judge it by the packagings, thanks to their rounded bottles and minimalist designs which can easily meet the tastes and expectations of the youngest.

So if you’re looking for anti-aging products… This isn’t the right place to be! But I don’t like to restrict a product to only one kind of skin/people/gender… and I am convinced that everyone can enjoy this qualitative line its own way.
You can find the complete range at Sephora, Marrionaud, Nocibé or Galeries Lafayettes.

Did you aknowledge WASO Shiseido’s line?  Are you attracted by one or more products?

Clarins Moisture replenish lip balm, always in my bag!

Clarins Hydra-Essential Baume Lèvres réparateur Moisture Replenishing lip balm

I’m rather happy to be able to review a lot of Korean cosmetics for you guys in a short amount of time these days! Let’s say that reviewing makeup can be done fast but reviewing skincare products is another story, obviously.

Then, I don’t feel guilty at all to tell you now about one of ours brands, a Frenchie brand that does’t need to be introduced anymore: Clarins and its very new lipbalm!

There is ONE lip product I can’t go through winter without and that I should have been reviewing since 2015 or 2016 : Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. That being said, the pot format isn’t really convenient and I can’t carry it out with me like I’d love to. Anyway, I’ll write more about it in a dedicated blogpost: yes, it’s planned!
A lot of lip products are coming soon on the blog btw, I hope you’re ready ;)

Clarins Hydra Essentiel Moisture Replenish lip balm with blue lotus wax

The box of this classic, neutral lip balm is red and white (I’ve thrown it away before the photoshoot, great.), and lets us discover a blue tube containing 15ml of product. Visually speaking, this packaging has nothing to do with the typical Korean cuteness we are so familiar with, but I still decided to give it a chance (in spite of 14 other balms I have already used…God knows why). And I’d never have believed I had done soooo right!

Even if the packaging rings a bell, the composition of this new product is slightly different from the original one: the first balm is made of rose flower wax whereas this one contains lotus flower wax! A great cocktail of oils, waxes and butters– yum!

Ingredients list
INGREDIENTS: PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM/MINERAL OIL/HUILE MINERALE, DIISOSTEARYL MALATE, PARAFFIN, HYDROGENATED STYRENE/ISOPRENE COPOLYMER, CERA MICROCRISTALLINA/MICROCRYSTALLINE WAX/CIRE MICROCRISTALLINE, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKI(SHEA) BUTTER, POLYETHYLENE, RICINUS COMMUNIS (CASTOR) SEED OIL, CAPRYLIC/ICAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, SYNTHETIC WAX, NYLON-12, NYMPHAEA CAERULEA FLOWER EXTRACT, THEOBROMA GRANDIFLORUM SEED BUTTER, OCTYLDODECANOL, SILICA, AROMA/FLAVOR, TOCOPHEROL, HYDROGENATED MICROCRYSTAL LINE WAX, ORYZANOL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, CERAMIDE 3, THEOBROMA CACAO (COCOA) EXTRACT, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, ANISE ALCOHOL, CI 15850 RED 7 LAKE

I don’t know much about the first lip balm but here is my review of the Clarins Hydra Essentiel Moisture Replenish lip balm with blue lotus wax.

It’s the kind of tube with a lil hole at the tip that lets the product out when pressed. It’s not my favorite format, so I wasn’t really hyped at the beginning… Hopefully I was already aware of Clarins’ quality so I still gave it a try.
If you aren’t hyper either because of the format and packaging, still, imagine that I had been breathing through my mouth for a week because of the flu. My lips were SHREDS.

I didn’t think twice and decided to apply it because I just wanted/needed something thick. All my sticks aren’t thick enough, so there wasn’t any better option than this tube format at the time.
And damn: it was love at first sight, or at least the beginning of our loooong love story…

The texture is very thick but unexpectedly not THAT sticky. I pressed the tube while applying the product on my lower lip, then I pinched my lips and massaged them for a few seconds. I ended up homogenizing the edges with the applicator. The smell is almost imperceptible but still enjoyable.

It makes the lips look very glossy and slightly tinted in pink, which I hadn’t noticed for a while but it really gives a healthy glow !

And when I applied it before I go to bed, there was still some product left in the morning. And man, I just LOVE that feeling: From day one, my lips were doing better for sure!
In daytime, I kept applying it: I didn’t use lipstick on my chapped lips, so let’s use this time to moisture everything! As written above, it gives the lips a pinky gloss looks, what a chance that the glossy trend is slowly coming back haha.

It barely took three days for my lips to be soft and moisturized again… even plumped! I used it in the morning, in the afternoon and at night. I tell you: This lip balm is heaven.

If I had to find a cons or a weakness, it would be its thick – but efficient – texture that is not compatible with any lipstick. You have to choose, but I can tell you this balm is so comfy that it’s not a punishment at all.

I still want to put the stress on the fact that I don’t have very dry or chapped lips in general, so maybe the way I am myself helped the efficiency of the balm or else…That being said, I have the bad habit of biting my lips when I am anxious -and that’s quite often- so my lips are not always smooth nor uniform.

This review is then very personal, but I hope this lip balm will perform miracles on you as much as it did on me!

Are you #ChappedLips team ? Are you tempted by this almost perfect lip balm ?

My fabulous cleansing…powder?! Green Tea Enzyme Powder Wash By Wishtrend

by Wishtrend Green Tea Enzyme Powder Wash

If you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel, you might believe you’ve already seen this powder wash as I use it in my Night Routine:

You will be pleased to know that I actually still use it and I love it so much that I decided to write a full post about it!

By Wishtrend

Wishtrend

At the very beginning, Wishtrend was a Korean cosmetics eshop based in Seoul but bound for overseas because the website, social media and customer service are all in English. Thanks to the exclusivity of brands available on their eshop, the firm developed its own brand: Klairs. It has a cool retro look which makes me think of Kiehl’s, but Klairs is as good as other big brands because it quickly established itself as a big one too: My favorite toner of ALL TIMES is from Klairs, I even introduced you the 7 Skin Method with it. You can also find it in my full review of the Klairs Rich Moist line that I wrote two years ago. Anyway you understood it by now: I love Klairs.

However, Wishtrend didn’t stop there and developed a new brand: By Wishtrend. A lot of the line’s products are used in my night routine above and… What can I say? I love them as much as Klairs’. Especially this enzyme powder wash that smells like matcha: By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

It was officially launched on November 10th 2017, and this little cleansing powder stands out in many ways: Its pastel green and rounded packaging doesn’t imply that it’s a cleanser, isn’t it? So as the texture because when you spill the bottle in the palm of your hand, a greenish powder comes out!

I developed 3 approaches to use it according to my mood or needs:

  • The cleansing day: I pour a bit of water on the powder and I rub my hands to get a soft milky texture that I gently rub on my wet face.
  • The exfoliating day:  I wet my face, then I start to gently rub the powder directly on it. Before it melts, the powder will softly exfoliate the dead skins – not sensitive, combination to oily skins will LOVE it!
  • The cocooning day: With the help of a foaming net, I mix a knob of powder and a little bit of water. Then I get a thicker foam which I massage on my face as the softest cleansing step.

The exfoliating way is my favorite because I love scrubs and it’s a very good 2-in-1. Sensitive and dry skins will enjoy the cocooning one while the classic way will be more than enough when you’re in a rush.

The fact is no matter how I use it, this Green Tea Enzyme Powder Wash is efficient! And thanks to what? An awesome composition obviously:

See the ingredient lists
Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Sorbitol, Papain, Betaine, Cellulose Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate
  • Green Tea: Powerful antioxidant and rich in vitamin A, C and E.
  • Papain: Regular scrub ingredient, which allows to clear the skin from dead cells.
  • Sodium bicarbonate: A really good exfoliating agent since the dawn of the time (or almost)! It deeply cleans the skin, pores and do wonders with acne.
  • Amino acid surfactants: Derived of coconut, it allows to efficiently moisturize without bubbling a lot, while keeping the moisture in the skin as much as possible.

Minimalist composition and great results, it’s what and WHY you can enjoy in this Korean brand! This Green Tea Enzyme Powder Wash will totally suit sensitives skins as much as normal skins, with a simple difference of frequency: Combination to oily skins can use it everyday for its exfoliating point while dry skins will be okay with 2 or 3 uses by week, like a classic and soft scrub.

As if everything I just said isn’t enough, let me tell you that if you’re an unconditional matcha lover like me… You will fall in love in two seconds and half: Its fragrance is SO faithful, it feels that you drink a latte while taking care of yourself! Be careful NOT to ACTUALLY DRINK IT, goes without saying ahah.

And while you could wonder if the bottle will be empty (too) quickly, just know that it lasts a few months according to the quantity you wish to use everytime. A knob is more than enough.

I will totally purchase this cleansing powder again because it combines everything I love: it cleans well, additionally exfoliates, doesn’t tug at all, smells terribly good and it’s so much fun to use it!

Just run buy this Green Tea Enzyme Powder Wash already on Wishtrend for $22! The link is affiliated, but be aware (and I hope you already knew that) it doesn’t change anything I wrote about the product. By the way if you never ordered on Wishtrend yet, tape 017338409 at sign up (not at check out, it’s too late) and we’ll both get -5$. :)

Joah Box, the best kbeauty box?

K-Beauty Joah Box Lapcos

Even if I tend to discover and accumulate always more and more products, beauty boxes are still one of my favorite ways to acquire new things!

Joah Box

You probably already heard about Joah Box’s subscription on my YouTube channel, my Instagram or some reviews I wrote here but I just realized I never properly talked about Joahbox itself… And since I have two new boxes in stock right now, I think it’s a great timing!

Small wakeup call or infos for the newbies : (welcome ♡)

  • Monthly: 33$ (26,50€)
  • One time box: 35,95$ (28,90€)
  • 3 months: 97$ (78€)
  • 6 months: 190$ (153€)
  • One year: 375$ (300€)

 Shipping included

I must say that I don’t see any big savings except for the full year subscription, and this is definitely not the less expensive kbeauty box… but objectively, this is one of the best!
Indeed: In each box, you’re getting 5~7 full size products for a total value of 50$~100$, depending on the month and selection. I think it’s a pretty good deal when you think about it, for less than €30 every month haha.

By the way, get 10% off your order with the code MANGO10, which means €22,50 off the year subscription! Just know that I’m not paid nor sponsored, I just asked it for you guys. :B”

Joah Box – September 2017

Yes, you read well: This is the SEPTEMBER box… I’m definitely not late, idk whatchu talkin ‘bout. The worst thing is that this box is truly amazing. Let’s discover the content together:

Dr Jart+ Shake & Shot Rubber Soothing Mask

I won’t introduce the brand Dr Jart+ to you because it’s one of the few Korean brands that are available at Sephora! So the “particular spirit” –to not say creepy– of the brand shouldn’t surprise you, even if this product is not sold in France. (update : it is now!)

There is a baby’s face on the sheetmasks sold at Sephora as well but let’s say that €10,95 for a single use isn’t something everyone can affort… For the same price, you can find this kind of DIY mask !

Mix the two ingredients in the cup, with the baby’ straw which is actually a spatula – and apply it on the face!
I was really happy to get to discover it and I think I’ll make a review about it, if you want so obviously ♡. Don’t hesitate to give me your opinion in the comment section!

A.H.C – The Pure Real Eye Cream For Face

What a surprise to find A.H.C in my Joah Box, because I just discovered the brand at the K-Beauty In Paris expo! Will it be sold in France soon as well? I can’t say, but let’s talk a bit about this luxurious cream :

If you didn’t know, the skin around the eyes is much thinner and delicate than the rest of the face. This is why you definitely can’t use the same cream for these two areas, and “eye creams” are specifically designed to fight effectively against aging signs.

So it’s not a twisted translation, but the power of an eye cream… for the whole face!
The tube, in addition of having the (tiny) size of a classic eye cream, seemed to be only half filled when I pressed it so it better makes miracles with a tiny amount of product. :’)

Nooni – Snoowflake Stick Cleanser

I already wrote you a blogpost about this product, check the full review here. :)

OOZOO – Face Injection Mask : Illumination

If you’re into DIY, you would LOVE this box! First the Dr Jart+ Shake & Shot, now and this sheetmask to soak yourself using the syringe filled with serum on the side… I love it. I just LOVE it. I don’t know if it works yet but still. Haha
Would you be interested by a full review and demo too?

MEDIHEAL – Hair Sheep Steam Pack

They definitely didn’t forget to send original and playful products! I scratched my head reading its name but it’s really… a heated hair mask. No reviews for this one but if you’re lucky, you’ll spot me wearing it on Instagram ? ;p

PONY EFFECT – Mirage Highlighter #Lucid Dream

There are often offers when you wanna subscribe and lately, you could get a free Pony Effect highlighter! The shade is called #Lucid Dream. Like aaall Pony Effect’s products (and PONY herself), the packaging is flawless but I have to admit that the pigmentation is a bit disappointing.

I love high-pigmented highlighters with metallic finishes, but this one is rather discreet and iridescent. meh It’s not bad tho, it’s just not what I’m looking for! If you want me to put it in a giveaway, just hit the comment section once more. ;)

Here is what the September box looked like, and I really enjoyed it! The products were great, and maintain my expectations really high. What about you?

Can’t wait to show you the Xmas Box featuring Korean brand ‘Lapcos’! Stay tuned ♡

Sephora Exfoliating Gum Wash: Not quite

Sephora Gomme exfoliante exfoliating gum

Some products always haunt me for like, days, weeks, MONTHS but I never jump at the chance by lack of time or opportunity… Anyway, it wasn’t by lack of money for today’s product because I finally decided to purchase it while there was a big sale at Sephora, for €2.60 instead of €8.95!

I heard a lot of things about Sephora‘s makeup (cream lip stain,  mattifying powder, etc…) but Sephora’s skincares and me are like chalk and cheese: I already tried almost ALL their sheet masks (for face, foot, hands, etc) and they aren’t so great, and my opinion about the brand got worse with the famous Mud Mask Purrifying & mattifying which everybody seemed to love but was a terrible fail to me. I didn’t even try to give it away, it just ended in my trashbin… oops.

However, I don’t hold any grudge against the label and I wanted to give it another shot by falling for this kinda weird-textured product, the Sephora Peony Exfoliating Gum Wash !

Sephora Exfoliating Gum Wash

There is also a mango version, and maybe I would have fall for this fragrance if it was in sale, but the fragrance of this peony pot is really likeable. Flowery but neither granny-like nor heady. I also like the 160ml pot format and the color, which makes it a cute little bathroom’s accessory – don’t you think?

Let’s talk about the texture: They didn’t lie at all! It totally feels like a gum, or, in 2018, you could match it as a “slime” haha. I admit that it’s so enjoyable to play wit. It’s not difficult to collect some in your hands, but you rather have to grab it between your fingers than glide it like a classic cream because it’s too compact.

That being said, you can actually SEE the grains more than you really FEEL them on your skin… And now we’re coming to the why and how of the title’s “not quite”: It’s supposed to be an exfoliating gum wash, but the gum doesn’t really wash nor exfoliate!

The grains seem to be locked up in the texture and can’t really reach the skin for a proper exfoliation. When you scrub it on your skin, the gum will gently transform into a cream which doesn’t spread evenly and easily nor bubble. Okay, let’s say it still can be used to ‘wash’, but how long does it take to wash your while body with it?! The only good point is that it can be easily rinsed off with lukewarm water, but still…

In a nutshell, it’s a cute and funny product but not particularly useful of effective… Sephora’s skincares have a looong way to go to get my heart.
I couldn’t find the ingredients list anywhere, neither on the product nor on the website, not cool.

If you could gave me only ONE Sephora’s skincare product, what would it be? Because right now, I’m losing hope to find a nugget in this label…

If you are interested to try it anyway, you can find both Mango and Peony Exfoliating Gums Wash on Sephora, one of them are still on sale right now.

The softest makeup remover: Nooni Snowflake Stick Cleanser

Nooni Snowflake Stick Cleanser

Even if I think about a million things during my day, I always forget when my makeup remover comes to an end… ugh.

This little cleanser stick (I don’t really like to say cleanser because it leads to confusion), let’s say this makeup removal stick came just when I needed it in my September Joah Box – that I forgot about until then. So, I gave it a chance… I didn’t have a choice tho. Let’s focus haha.

Nooni

I tend to know more and more about the Korean cosmetics market everyday, so there aren’t many brands that I truly NEVER heard of or tested. Nooni was part of those that I saw growing, without having the chance to try any product. So here we are!

I think Nooni appeared on social medias in 2016, and since then I saw it conquer the American market, by being sold at MEMEBOX, Ulta ou encore Urban Outfitters. Just that!
That being said, Nooni’s success isn’t surprising at all. It’s actually “Designed in California, Made in Korea”. This strategy seems to work since we discover a minimalist features brand as we like them.

Nooni Snowflake Stick Cleanser

You may be thinking: “Minimalist, are you out of your mind?” Not really because when I was doing my researches for this article, I found out that the packaging has been redone – here is a little glimpse:

Joah Box confirmed that it’s a simple rebranding and that the composition is still the same. I think you can actually find both of them on eBay, Amazon etc.

Speaking of composition, here it is:

See the ingredients list
Mineral Oil, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Polyethylene, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) seed Butter, Ceresin, Microcrystalline Wax, 1,2-Hexanediol, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Salicylic Acid, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Water, Butylene Glycol, Prunus Persica (Peach) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Magnolia Liliflora Bud Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Kernel Extract, Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Oxygen, Citric Acid

Yes it’s quite long and very conventional: You really need to check if your skin doesn’t react to jojoba oil (moisturizing, nourishing) or to olive oil (antioxidant, soften) which can cause ‘breakouts’, but the only thing to regret in this composition are the preservatives (Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol) and PEGs…

Apart from that, nothing to report! There is a lot of natural products such as:

  • Lotus flower: Purifying, softening, moisturizing
  • Cocoa seed butter: antioxidant, filled with vitamins A, B, C, E
  • Shea butter: nourishing, moisturizing, soothing
  • Ginseng: tone up, anti-ageing, destressing
  • Salicylate acide : THE moisturizer!
  • Hydrogen peroxide from Jeju island (makes it fancier)

I was surprised to see there is perfume in the composition because obviously this isn’t good for the skin, but this is forgivable if the product smells really good right? But hear me well: I really, really don’t like the smell of this stick.

It smells chemical, or… plastic, I don’t know, but the kind of smell you don’t want on your face! They point out peach extracts, so it would have been nice if the product smell like it… (And yes, I don’t care about the composition as long as I don’t’ have spots on my face, but I rather remain objective for those who care ;p)

What about the efficiency of the product now? I kind of spoiled it in the title, but it is seriously amazing:
I applied all my strongest makeup such as waterproof brow pencil, Tarte’s Lip Paint (which is soooo matte), the famous Shape Tape concealer and the Curl Fix mascara from Etude House, known for giving a hard time to two-phased makeup removers.

Step 1: Draw circular motions with the stick straight on the makeup. Then massage it with your fingers and you already removed 90% of your makeup! There is only some mascara left, but I told you there isn’t tougher than this one!

Step 2: Put some warm water on your face so the oily texture becomes a light emulsion while finishing the job: There is NO-THING left!

What combination to oily skins will enjoy is the moisturizing finish, which isn’t greasy at all. Of course, dry skins can use it as well but let’s admit that there is nothing worse than this greasy feeling due to a too rich product.
The skin is left clean and soft, at least clean enough to be really cleanSED this time. :D

Why choose a stick over an oil? Because this is so much more practical and ergonomic if you travel! And for those who’d rather die than go to bed with makeup on… You could actually keep it in your bag. haha

I struggled to find it on my favorite eshops and resellers, but here is some links if you’d like to try the Nooni Snowflake Stick Cleanser, which doesn’t smell so good, but is really cute and efficientBeautyNetKorea (15,85€) – Amazon (16€ ports compris !) – eBay (22$ ports compris)
